I would like to know what is the best time of the year to visit India? What are some hotels I could stay at with pretty good rates and comfort?

There are only few things that can be visited in india like Taj Mahal.
Rest are the wastage of time

Hey charles, Who told you that there are only Few Place to Visit,I visit to India Last year there are many places to visit in India,I just Loved My Visit to India this is Most remeberal trip for me,I visited all the Historical Monuments in India there are Many good Tempels also in India South India is the Best Part to Visit tempels,India Hill Stations are best Center of attraction For Tourists I just Love India.

India has many places to visit and the time to visit India will depend on the places you want to visit. If you choose to visit hill stations then March to August will suit you better...

India is fantastic !!! It was a pretty big culture shock and is for the most part pretty dirty but having said that I would go back in heartbeat! My absolute favorite was the ghatts at Varanassi (sorry if my spelling is off) It's a magical place. Sorry, I went quite awhile ago so I can't remember the names of places that I stayed, but I find the Lonely Planet books are really helpful when traveling. It gives you a good idea of what's good and what's not

Hello Friends...
The best time to visit India is between October to April...this is because during this time period the climate is awesome and the winter is on full swing....You can visit the places like Darjeeling,Dalhousie,Shimla,Manali,Leh etc....These all places are full of natural beauty..You will surely enjoy your time here...
Also i just want 2 say one thing that don't go on the rumors like the one spreaded by "Charles Steve" here...Just visit India and see the difference...

The best time to visit India for travelers is the winter season. The season lasts from October to February. It is a enjoyment to visit India during these cooler months, when the heat of summer is no more. Around this time, the usually wet areas of Northeast also become dry, making it easier to travel there. Even the hot South India is hallowed with cool weather and rain on beaches in this peak season for India.

Incredible India as said is really a great place to visit on your holidays.....It's a mixture of many cultures and many religions. You can visit many interesting places here and can enjoy your stay....Never listen to rumors as India is definitely a perfect destination....
October to February is the best time to visit India as during this period the climate is moderate.. 8)
