and we are now putting together a web page for St. Peters as our volunteers havev transcribed records and want to make sure they are well looked after.
Before you think I am too lazy to take my own pictures, I should explain that I live in Victoria, BC Canada, so it's quite a trip to Chorley which I have managed only once so far. The Lancs OPC website is making available genealogical information and records totally free so we have no budget to pay anyone for photos or anything but despite that we have 3 million records transcribed and 2-300 vomuteers (all over the world) busy transcribing records. BTW - the Chorley church you photographed is the one located on Harper's Lane isn't it?
If you have any questions or concerns do please contact me, and if you have not traveled to Victoria you should. It really is a piece of heaven with lots of lovely English pubs!
You may use the image of St Peters Church for non commercial use, as long as there is a credit to my self David F Barker Chorley, and I am given a link to the web page it is being used.
Unfortunately it isn't the church on Harpers Lane it the one at Belmont, near Chorley Clicky Google Map and Street View Clicky . I could go to the ST Peters in harpers lane and take a photo if you would like me to, also Michael you may be interested in this Clicky Linky sad news, lets hope something can be done to save it
Thank you for you very prompt reply. I wondered if it was a different St. Peters as it looked different but I thought you had managed a very unique picture. I would be indebted if you could take some photos of the St. Peters on Harpers Lane. We would, of course, give you credit and you retain copyright which we fully recognize and acknowledge. I have used this approach in many of the parishes where I am the OPC thereabouts including Standish, Blackrod, Chorley (St. Laurence) etc. Thanks also for the news about St. Laurence - it is a real problem for churches to support their aging infrastructure when congregations are dwindling.
All the best. I wish my snapshots were up to your standards - but they aren't!
I will go tomorrow and take a few shots if the weathers fine, I will upload them to flickr and here, pleased to help you, Ive been having a look around your site some fab information Thank you for your kind words about my images
As promised shots of Parish Of St Peter Harpers Lane Chorley Lancashire, unfortunately I was shooting into the sun for the front shot, I will go back later today and see if I can get a better shot, I also could not gain access to the interior I will try when I return later today, hope the images can be of some use, if you would like images of other Chorley churches I will be pleased to help
